HLN Originals - Extreme houses
February 16, 2023 -- HLN
Starting tomorrow you can watch the new HLN Original 'Extreme Huizen' on HLN. In the video series, real estate expert Hadisa Suleyman will travel through Flanders over the next five weeks and look for the most special homes that can be found there. From a luxurious villa that you would rather expect in Dubai or Ibiza to a house made of straw: “As a real estate agent, I don't often come across these types of houses in daily life.”

In the third episode we visit a house that at first glance you would only find in Bokrijk: a house made of straw. But nothing is less true. Owner Matthias built his own house about ten years ago in Heist-op-den-Berg and used straw and loam as the main materials. The result? An energy-neutral home, disconnected from the gas and water grid, from which he also makes an annual profit: "I don't experience the energy crisis, except with the petrol in the car."
Cuba vibes for a day 🇨🇺🌴

In the second episode of the HLN Original 'Extreme Huizen', real estate expert Hadisa Suleyman goes to the water tower in Steenokkerzeel, right next to Zaventem airport.
The monumental tower has been completely renovated into an extreme luxury home and today serves as a B&B. Owners Ferdi and Valérie give Hadisa a tour and show her the surprising asset of this house: a roof terrace with a 360° view around which the planes that land at Brussels Airport circle.

In the coming weeks I will take you with HLN to a few special homes in Flanders.
We start the first episode in a beautiful villa in Maasmechelen.
"Nice house, but do you have coffee?" 🙋🏽♀️
And with that coffee I got an answer to the question that had been bothering me all day. How does someone get to this level that allows him to build a house like this? Contrary to what many people would think, this is not “generational wealth”, but the story of a miner who manages to work his way up to become a successful entrepreneur.
It is certain that the house made an impression on me, but the story of the person behind the house did just that little bit more...
What I remember and what I have always believed in is that wherever you come from, dreaming is for everyone ✨
